Greetings Fountain Pen Users/Collectors and those interested in evaluating fountain pens, inks, or paper products. With a lot of extra time on my hands lately, I started out with a desire to create/build a repository for information about my pens, inks, journals, notebooks, pads of paper and loose paper stock (reams). I began by designing the database and soon moved on to creating new review forms in order to organize the input data for each of the items.

While working on these forms, it came to me: “Why not make them in such a way that I can share them with others who may be interested so they can also use them for their own personal collections, etc?” So began the process… using ideas & suggestions from some very knowledgeable people at FPN (The Fountain Pen Network).

Final iterations of each form can be found available here:

A Pen Review Form;

An Ink Review Form;

and a Paper Products Review Form.

Of special note: These forms do not include every conceivable characteristic possible in each category. They do however, have most of the proverbial bases covered. In addition, they also include blank areas where one can fill in the other characteristics not already listed elsewhere. I made a big attempt at making these as versatile as possible and limited each form to just one page for ease of use.

Please feel free to comment on each of the review forms. Either here, on the FPN or one can email your comments to me at: reviewforms@sproctor.com. Please no spam, flames, etc… I cannot promise that I will make any changes right away unless they are critical ones, though this should not stop you from making suggestions for the next release sometime in the very near future.

Each user has the option of either printing the form out and filling it in by hand or filling it out electronically and then printing it with data already on the page. Every effort was made to ensure these interactive forms have optimized file sizes. This was accomplished to improve loading times and performance. I apologize in advance for not being able to add the functionality of being able to save a form with data filled in on it. To get around this issue, you could scan it and save it that way.

Many, many thanks for allowing me to share these review forms with you. I sincerely hope that you find them useful…

Greetings and Welcome!

Needless-to-say, this will be a quick and fast 1st blog. I have to put something here, right? The name I chose for the overall blog, that is… “Write With” didn’t take a huge analysis or a lot of thought to create. Most of my thoughts and ideas lately involve either pen collecting, ink, paper and writing. With that in mind and with me needing a good place to put reviews, I looked into installing WordPress here in a sub-directory where I can control the “look and feel.”

The “Write With” reference suggests it can be thought of in more than one way. It can/could be “Write With” Stephen as along side, or it can be used more like I “Write With” fountain pens. Versatility and a very broad interpretation was important to me. A “Bureau of Pens” was a close second and refers to a dresser or chest of drawers I use for storing ink, paper stock, rocker blotters and above all, pens.

Though you can usually count on me for some long-winded diatribe, I must get back to putting the final touches and tweaking this site to ensure all the different pages (not much now) are displaying properly. I’m beginning to like WordPress with this install here especially since you can actually go into the code and edit the PHP and html, etc… to alter how it does something or utilize the default settings to just use it as it is. Pretty kewl in my book. My previous blog was in Serendipity, which I still am fond of. With it too, you could go in and edit the code. You need to know which file does what though and it isn’t user intuitive at all. This is…

Well, welcome to the site. It is my intention to put up some details in the following days concerning fountain pens, inks, paper and maybe some other related ephemera. I should also be adding blogs off & on as the Spirit moves me or urges get so bad I have to post one. I will also be using some of the space here for future reviews I might do or post on FPN (Fountain Pen Network) a great bunch of people that share my great passion with fountain pens, and other fine writing instruments, etc…

So Glad You Stopped By!
